Chevrolet, a brand part of auto giant General Motors (GM), has recently unfurled the first smartphone tool of its kind- a tiny car-based air conditioner that helps keep smartphones, which often have a tendency to overheat, cool. Phone overheating can severely hamper your mobile device’s performance as well as kill your battery’s ability to hold a charge. Chevy is calling its system Active Phone Cooling, and it works off a car’s existing heat and AC system.
Active Phone cooling will be on 2016 Cruze, Malibu, Impala, and Volt
On 2016 Chevrolet Cruzes, Malibus, Impalas, and Volts that feature wireless charging, the Active Phone Cooling system will be offered, marking its debut. The system is essentially a small air vent that blows cold air onto a phone when it’s mounted in a specially designated shelf under the dashboard. Tech experts agree that heat buildup is a major problem for smartphones, especially ones that may spend a day behind the sun-struck glass of a car that essentially acts as a greenhouse.
