Honda is At the Top of the Damaged Car List
Nine Honda models are at risk of having faulty Takata air bags, which have a risk of exploding under too much force and shooting sharpnels at drivers and passengers. Since the scandal initially broke out, Honda has dropped them as their aribag provider, but with Honda being their number one airbag buyer, Honda models at the highest risk for facing a multi million dollar recall.
The Honda Recall is the Largest in US History Because of Takata Air Bags
Honda is facing a 19.2 million car recall, and they’re looking to speed the pace of the Takata air bags repairs so that the clients under highest risk can avoid any disasters. Unfortunately, this process could take up to four years to complete.
Takata Corp is set to pay a $200 million fine for their faulty airbags, which have injured over 100 people. In addition to nine Honda models, the list also includes the Fiat Chrysler, five Toyota Models, three Ford, Mazda, Nissan and Subaru models, as well as Daimler vans, two Mitsubishi and General Motors models and one BMW and Daimler Trucks with Takata air bags that could endanger the lives of drivers and passengers alike.
The Endangered Cars Takata Air Bags Would Be in High Humidity Locations
The areas with potentially faulty Takata air bags are high humidity areas such as Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Puerto Rico, the American Samoa, Guam, Saipan and the US Virgin Islands. The carmakers encourage any cars from 2008 in this area be sent to repairs immediately.
