You Can Get Popular in Brazil for Being Racist

Every racist’s dream has come true as people can now get popular for being racist in Brazil. Now, this is probably not what you think, but it is still a very interesting revelation that is happening in Brazil. A black women’s rights organization named Criola has recently launched a campaign to stop racism. What Criola has announced they are doing is posting anybody’s racist comments online and making them visible to all.

CRIOLA TRYING TO STOP PEOPLE FROM BEING RACIST

The first thing that needs to be said is being racist is not a good thing and nobody should be. Criola most likely feels the same way as well. Criola has mentioned how the team identified racist posts on Facebook and that they used geolocation tools to find out exactly where the post came from. After this they said the comment was then posted on billboard sites nearby. The one thing that Criola did mention, though, was that the name and face of the author would be blurred. This prevents the person from being virtually attacked themselves. Criola explained how their intent is to not publicly expose anyone, but just to show the world that virtual racism is nothing to be messed with.

The whole idea of trying to stop virtual racism is a good one, but this might not do the trick. If the person who posted the racist comments photo and name were not blurred, then it might make more of a difference. If people are worried about that happening, then they should not post a racist comment. It is understandable on why this is not the case. Doing this would infiltrate people’s privacy and most likely cause a lot of criticism. However, a lot of credit has got to go to Criola for partaking in this project. They have the right mindset and hopefully they can help with virtual racism.
