Acura NSX: 5 Things You Didn’t Know

The all-new 2017 Acura NSX has just been released and one thing is for certain, it’s fast. As one of the more technically advanced cars out on the road, critics were eager to take this one for a spin. The fact is, for something so seemingly complex, its performance just about matches it. We do know that it’s fast. Extremely fast, but here are a few other aspects to be wary of.

1. THE ACURA NSX IS TECHNICALLY GIFTED

This is perhaps the greatest attribute of the Acura NSX. Some say it may have the most technically advanced systems on the market. That’s certainly nothing to scoff at. The NSX has two frontal electric motors, one for each front wheel. In the rear, we find a twin-turbocharged 3.5 liter V6 engine with yet another electric motor fastened to it. Nestled next to that is a 9-speed dual clutch transmission. With these powers combined, the NSX gives us 573 horsepower with 476 pound-feet of torque.

2. TORQUE VECTORING HELPS THE NSX GRIP

It sounds like something out of Star Trek, but torque vectoring is a reality you will appreciate. When taking those risky corners, torque vectoring turns on and helps the Acura grip and pull through a tight curve.

3. THE COMPUTER HAS YOUR BACK

Like a good co-pilot, the computer on the Acura NSX has your back. For example, if you overtake a corner, the computer-controlled brakes will kick in and bring the vehicle back to a safe speed in a second. This is all possible with those electric motors.

4. IT’S RELIABLE

Since Acura is essentially an upscale version of Honda, you know that the same reliability will come with it. You may feel like you’re driving a million dollar supercar most of the times, but in the end, you have a well-made car that won’t break down on you and if it does, you won’t have to take out a second mortgage on your house either.

5. IT’S CHEAP

The term “cheap” is used lightly here. The $156,000 price tag is far from cheap for the middle-class American. However, compared to something similar like the Porsche 918 Spyder that comes in at $1 million dollars, the NSX is very reasonable. Some critics even rank the NSX above the Porshe in performance making this price a steal.
