Google Cloud Platform to Beat Amazon and Microsoft

Google Cloud Platform to Beat Amazon and Microsoft Clapway

It seems that Google’s cloud efforts have been all but understood. Amazon and Microsoft seem to be the more popular options, however, after breaking down some key features, it looks like Google Cloud Platform will prove to be a worthy competitor soon.

GOOGLE CLOUD PLATFORM AT A GLANCE

Security, pricing, features and support are the triggers that drive cloud popularity. Compared to Microsoft and AWS, Google looks to be the cheapest of them all, but it slightly lacks in features and support. Seeing as Google Cloud Platform is expanding in popularity, it suggests people are willing to forego a few key points in the name of a thicker wallet. This is also exemplified in their app network. Amazon and Microsoft have a much larger collection of enterprise apps. Amazon actually boasts a mighty 400+ compared to just 20 on Google Cloud Platform. That being said, Google is making up for it by catering to a unique crowd.

CREATIVES DISMISS AMAZON AND MICROSOFT

Amazon and Microsoft may be popular with the business crowd, but the creative subset of app/web developers love Google. Google provides a streamlined process for setting up a workload making it insanely easy for developers to jump and-and get to work. One customer claimed Google had a much higher level of abstraction compared to Amazon and Microsoft. This means that more functions can be automated for developers to create a unique experience. Creatives do not like to be tied down and Google helps give them free reign.

THE UNDERDOG MAY RISE TO THE TOP

The fact that Google Cloud Platform is even competing is impressive. They are certainly the underdog, raking in a measly $400 million/year compares to AWS’s $9.62 billion/year and Azure’s $1.544 billion/year. Looking at those numbers ,GCP is quite small, yet they are still dominating the smaller firms and start-up market. Those that tend to be more self-reliant love Google Cloud Platform as they don’t necessarily need technical support. For this reason, it is a great introductory product. As more and more businesses get into the cloud market, we can expect GCP to blow up with new business due to their simple infrastructure.
