Medical Marijuana is Legal; Time for Cocaine and LSD? Clapway

Yet another dispensing organization has been given the authorization to grow medical marijuana. This time, earlier this week, state health officials gave the authorization to San Felasco Nurseries, in Gainesville, Florida. As the world continues to shift towards the idea of legalizing marijuana, it begs the question if other drugs should be legalized. For instance, is it time for LSD and cocaine to be legalized?

MEDICAL MARIJUANA CAN NOW BE GROWN BY SAN FELASCO

This long-awaited approval came after a judge ruled, in February, that San Felasco’s applications were wrongly rejected. Also, the approval was made possible because of a new law that was passed by the Legislature. Basically, this new law authorized organizations to grow full-strength marijuana for the purposes of curing ill patients. It should also be noted that this nursery will join five other nurseries in Florida who already had the authorization.

SHOULD LSD BE LEGALIZED?

This is a legitimate question to bring up because scientists in the past have studied the effects of LSD. One study, in particular, showed that LSD significantly reduced anxiety in patients suffering from illnesses. The researchers of the study, which was conducted a couple of years ago and published in the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, separated 12 patients into two groups. One group received 200 micrograms of LSD, and the other only 20. After the study was over, the group that received the higher dose said it had a profound effect on their anxiety. However, the group that received the lower dose said their anxiety got worse.

SHOULD COCAINE BE LEGALIZED?

Cocaine may be a long shot, but as the American College of Medical Toxicology points out, there are some benefits. The organization listed some medical uses for the drug, and one of them was to stop nosebleeds. Also, they point out how dentists can use cocaine as anesthesia. However, ACMT also notes how cocaine can cause chest pain, kidney damage, and bloody diarrhea. Again, cocaine is probably a long shot, whereas LSD may be a possibility.
