With each passing day, a Google-themed “Terminator” future is beginning to look like reality. Between humanoid robots, self-driving cars and now artificial musicians, new technology is continuing to challenge the need for humans at all. Justin Bieber, Alicia Keys, and Adele better enjoy the fame while they can. It won’t last long.

GOOGLE TO REPLACE ADELE AND ALICIA KEYS

Google’s newest machine learning project may not belt out beautiful songs quite like Adele or Alicia Keys yet, but it’s only a matter of time. The company just released its first piece of generated music. The 90-second piano melody was made through a trained neural network with just four notes provided up front. Other instruments were not part of the algorithm but were added later for dramatic effect. This is the first product for what Google is calling it’s Magenta program. Magenta is designed to put machine learning systems to use by creating art and music systems. This may seem like worrisome news to Adele and Alicia Keys but perhaps they can learn to work with this new technology.

TECHNOLOGY AND HUMANITY WORKING TOGETHER

Google’s Magenta doesn’t want to replace artists like Adele and Alicia Keys. Instead, it wants to build a community of artists around itself. For now, that means building systems that plug into the tools artists are already using. Magenta will start with video and audio support and tools for working with MIDI and other formats. The goal is to help artists connect to machine learning models, not tp replace them. Magenta’s goal is not Skynet-inspired domination.  Just a simple way to play music with the performance model. Fortunately for Justin Bieber, none of this matters.

JUSTIN BIEBER IS AN ALIEN

The technological advancement will continue to affect artists like Alicia Keys and Adele but Google will have zero effect on Justin Bieber. This is because Justin Bieber is an alien. No, not an alien in the literal sense. Justin Bieber is in his own world. He might even represent an entire world in fact. He is an outsider to our everyday society and seems immune to its rules and consequences. The kid obliviously hops around the world, infiltrating our headlines, testing our limits and leaving borders unscathed. Even with his worldwide hate, he still seems to be the most popular kid on Earth. If his career hasn’t failed, yet, it’s unlikely that something such as technology will stop him. In fact, he’ll probably find a way to use it to his advantage. Just as an alien would.
