Will NASA Get To Mars With Blockchain Technology?

Ever since they beat the world to the moon in 1969, NASA’s been at the forefront of innovation. While they are currently struggling with private space companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin, the government-funded space agency has an idea that might give them an advantage. Currently, the agency is looking to Ethereum and their blockchain technology for research purposes. Will this help them beat everyone to Mars?

NASA AND BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY GET TO MARS?

Years ago, blockchain technology was something only crypto nerds and criminals knew about. Now it seems like more people each day are beginning to understand the movement.  NASA is helping speed up that process by looking into Ethereum’s blockchain technology. In a collaboration with the University of Akron, the agency will use this technology to enable easy and improved communication in regards to space navigation. With a race to Mars in full swing, this could prove beneficial.

ETHEREUM WANTS IN ON NASA’S MARS RACE WITH BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY

This new development is not just something that benefits NASA. It could benefit the whole world and Ethereum is well aware of that. University of Akron professor Jin Kocsis sated that the project wants to create a safe and secure, decentralized and cheap method of space exploration. Furthermore, this would improve the way spacecraft technology operates when it comes to communication and navigation. She also added that the team will work on further tests of Ethereum’s blockchain technology to find even more solutions for the project.

NASA, MARS, AND BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY OPEN DOORS FOR STARTUPS

The aforementioned news is great for the wonders of space exploration but it has many Earthly uses as well. When blockchain-based applications pair with organizations based in the “real world” this opens up the doors for all sorts of promising startups in the world. Just last year, whistleblowers tarnished the names of many ICOs due to a series of fraudulent scam attacks. However, these whistleblowers also made it harder for honest platforms like IOTA, YouToken, Tron. The more mainstream success crypto and blockchain have, the more this benefits good projects. Space exploration is only the beginning of this new advancement.
