Actually Seize the Day

The number of girls aged 18+ that have the phrase, “Carpe Diem” tattooed on their body is astronomical. A carpe diem tattoo really sets some high standards on how you live your life. We’re talking about living every single day you’re alive to the fullest. Unfortunately, in today’s society, I highly doubt that these girls walk out the front door in the morning and actually “seize the day.” The following are some tips on how to truly live your life to the fullest.

1. Leave your house
We are people, not hermit crabs. Hermit crabs stay in their shell in order to survive hungry predators such as bald eagles and Guy Fieri. As human beings, we have the privilege of chilling on top of the food chain. Do not spend hours on end watching TV; there are no excuses for staying inside on a bright sunny day. Leave your shell and expand your horizons.

2. Build new relationships
What good is a new experience if you have no one to share it with? I understand that you can literally “share” your experiences with all of your friends via Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, and Myspace, but I’m talking about sharing it with actual people that are sitting next to you. Building strong relationships is one of the most important aspects of life. Get out there and meet someone amazing.

Note: To the people that actively manage all 7 of those social networking profiles at once: you annoy me.

3. Try new things
Life is only as good as the adventure we experience. Don’t be afraid to try new things, even if you feel that you won’t enjoy it. Whether it’s sweating in bikram yoga, or eating parts of a pig that you didn’t know were edible, at least you could say you tried.

Note: Don’t be the bland person that orders the cheese pizza. Not in this world, not when bacon and ranch exist.

We’re only given one life. It’s a shame that some choose to live it gazing upon their TV screen and smart phone. Look up, get out there and experience what the world has to offer.

Or you could just get a less ambitious tattoo.
