Photos of Five Wanderlust Cities to Get You Through the Week

It. Is. Monday. Is an explanation even necessary? Without further ado, here are five enchanting images of five completely different locales to help get you through another 40-hour workweek.

1. The Amalfi Coast, Italy

The Sorrentine Penninsula’s gorgeous stretch of southern coastline bursts and intrigues like a pop-up book made for children that don’t know how to keep still. Decadent in all ways, the coast boasts beautiful beaches and offers its many guests water adventures like parasailing and diving, along with delicious fare and warm hospitality. It’s an ideal honeymoon destination, but for those of us not getting married anytime soon, it’s also an ideal destination.

2. Pai, Thailand

Ever lush and green, merely looking at a photo of Pai relaxes the muscles and soothes the mind. Pai’s boundless mountains and compact wooden huts, amid the rice paddy, call for simpler times and act as humbling reminders that not everyone in the world lives like you. Can you feel the heat and humidity creeping up your skin? I can. And it feels good.

3. Valparaíso, Chile

Dynamic and colorful, this Chile city doesn’t get the amount of recognition it deserves. As the third largest metropolitan area in the country, Valparaíso is a magnet for European immigrants and is referred to by international sailors as “little San Francisco”—and we can see why. Strokes of color paint “Chile’s Cultural Capital” into a lively work of art that’s as welcoming as it is energetic with its unique labyrinths and cobbled alleys.

 4. Fairbanks, Alaska

You could say we have a thing for color, but hey, who doesn’t? Named after the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora, and the Greek name for the north wind, Boreas, the aurora borealis (also referred to as the northern lights) is a stellar display. Intense palettes of hues take to the sky as you sit back and gaze in amazement—how does the world do what it does? (There’s obviously science behind it, but we won’t take away from the phenomena by probing any further.)

5. NYC, New York

You know we had to save the best for last.
