To celebrate its 15th anniversary, the world’s only 7-star hotel, Dubai’s Burj Al Arab, has commissioned the creation of 30 iPhones — made of gold. Created by London-based company Gold & Co., the black and yellow gold gadgets are selling for a whopping Dh47,900 ($13,040), Emirates 24|7 news website reported on Monday.

“To mark our 15th anniversary, we have collaborated with Gold & Co. to create 15 iPhone 6 in yellow & black gold,” Burj al-Arab’s official Twitter account said in a post.

In September 2014, Gold & Co had received pre-orders for more than 500 gold-plated iPhone 6 units from international buyers.

“It was an honour for us to help commemorate the 15 Year Anniversary of the @BurjAlArab hotel by creating 15 bespoke Limited Edition iP6 in 24k Gold and Black Gold,” Gold & Co. announced on its Instagram account.

“These units are limited to 15 units of each and are available to buy only at the Burj Al Arab,” Amjad Ali, CEO of Gold & Co., told news website Emirates 24|7. “Each unit takes around 80 man hours to produce and has a separate round Burj Al Arab anniversary logo on the back of the unit.”

He added, “Each unit comes with its own gold plated identification and authenticity plaque, showing the units number and IMEI number.”

Though the memorabilia is unique, it’s not the only custom-made version of the iPhone 6 in the UAE. Just several days ago, Givori released the phantom black platinum iPhone 6 exclusively for the Dubai market. According to the brand, the back panel of the smartphone is made from Mississippiensis alligator leather.

Meanwhile, high-end brand Amosu has made the world’s first pink iPhone 6 – only 10 units of the device will be launched on Valentine’s Day.

Gold & Co.’s black edition of the gold iPhone 6 is selling exclusively at the luxury resort for Dh47,900 ($13,040), while the less expensive variant of the all gold version is marketed at Dh44,900 ($12,223).
