Nintendo Has Announced Discontinuation of Its TVii Service on August 11th

Since few people actually used the Nintendo TVii service, the company has announced that they will be discontinuing the service on August 11, 2015. The TVii service was tested worldwide recognition and and could have endured incredibly from the fact that it was only offered in certain countries.

LAUNCHED A MONTH AFTER THE NINTENDO WII U CONSOLE

Nintendo TVii was initially launched in 2012, just a month after the release of Nintendo’s WII U console. The TVii service was designed to operate as a feature that resembled a TV guide and provide WII users with screenshots, reviews and additional information on the program that is being screened. This service’s lack of popularity was mainly because it was only made available in Japan and the United States.

This announcement was made via Miiverse, where a member of the Nintendo TVii community talked to the over three years of Nintendo TVii services and let everyone know that the service as well as the Nintendo TVii Miiverse.

In the announcement, Nintendo thanked everyone for their use of the Nintendo TVii service and look forward to them participating in the other Miiverse communities.

NINTENDO TVII WAS CONSIDERED TO BE THE MOST ATTRACTIVE FEATURE

Prior to its 2012 launch, Nintendo TVii was viewed as one of the console’s most attractive features to users. It was intended to turn the television experience into something more social and robust, where users were given the opportunity to track the shows that they liked to watch the most. The TVii would also make suggestions after taking many variables into consideration, and integrate with the majority of streaming video services and DVR recordings.

AFTER THE RELEASE IT DID NOT MEET NINTENDO’S EXPECTATIONS

In the beginning, this all sounded very impressive. However, the reality did not live up to the expectations of Nintendo and its customers. A year later when the Xbox One came with multiple features such as voice controlled television and HDMI pass-throughs, the TVii started to seem a little outdated.

The responses from the Miiverse community, were a little less than others expected. The Miiverse came with comments that spanned from funny ones to those that were sort off mean.
