What’s a True Testament of Love?

While I have your doting attention, let’s explore a true testament of love. Think on how you fare in romantic relationships. If you’ve ever been accused of selfishness, a coldness of heart or have had partners doubt your appreciation and depth of feeling, this one goes out to you. If you, like me, have been guilty of having to Google “ways to show you care” or some variant of it, this one is for you.

This is long-held and near-and-dear to the most idealistic of hearts (because when I was 16, mine was certainly one of the forerunners of romantic innocence): I’ve always believed that a true testament of love is baking someone a pie from scratch.

Isn’t it romantic?

From scratch is key — no buying frozen pie crust dough from the frozen aisle at the supermarket. Maybe it was from the day I decided I would attempt the feat of making a pie from absolutely from scratch.

Yes, just do it.

It’s a task that takes effort. Yes, it takes time. But it can be highly meditative. As you knead the dough, think about your need for your partner.

While Cher says it’s in his — or her — kiss, I severely beg to differ: Baking someone a pie is true testament of love.

Spread the love. Or let me know what are some true testaments of love to you. Because I’m clearly hopeless. Please.
