Samsung just announced it will release two new Ativ laptops in time for the holidays: the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Pro and Ativ Book 9 Spin. The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Pro is designed like a traditional laptop, though with a 15.6 inch, 3840×2160 4K panel screen. The laptop comes with a brand new IntelCore i7 6700HQ processor and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M graphics card. The laptop runs Windows 10, and it’s the heavier one out of the two laptops being released, weighing 4.45 lbs.

The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Pro, according to Samsung, has HDR enhancements that optimize brightness and contrast on the screen, and comes with an ‘Outdoor mode’ that can emit 500 nits when used under direct sunlight. The laptop comes with 3 USB 3.0 ports, one USB-C port and a 4K HDMI port, as well as an SD card reader.

The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Spin is Samsung’s convertible hybrid laptop, which features 360 degree dual hinge that makes the laptop able to function as a tablet. It has a 13.3 inch touch screen with Quad HD that can emit 700 nits outdoors. It comes with an Intel Core i7 6500U processor, nearly as potent as the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Pro, though with Intel HD Graphics. It weighs 2.87 lbs and has three USB 3.0 ports, a microSD card reader and an HDMI port.

Both laptops come as competition for the Microsoft Surface Book and Lenovo’s Yoga 900, other Windows hybrid laptops, and it’s sure to cause quite the positive stir come this holiday season. Both laptops come with a 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM, and they’re available as of November at Samsung or Best Buy stores at $1,599 for the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Pro at base configurations; the Ativ Book 9 Spin starting at $1,399.
