YouTube Kids App is Available in Google Play and the Apple Store

YouTube Kids is the tool that filters content specifically geared towards children, and blocks certain words that may lead to inappropriate content. It even has a timer to monitor how long a child is using it and how long they can use it for.

For the UK and Ireland version, YouTube Kids highlights the best out of British television, including Morph, the Teletubbies and Wallace & Gromit and the Magic Roundabout. There are also channels unique to YouTube Kids like Little Baby Bum, which recently replaced Gangnam Style as the most watched YouTube video with one of their nursery rhyme videos. It also features Stampy and Talking Tom and Friends.

No System is Perfect, and YouTube Kids is No Exception

Parents have voiced concerns over the filtering system, and YouTube expresses that while their filtering system is good, it’s nowhere near perfect. They’re actively working to tune up their filtering systems to make sure that no unwanted content slips in through the cracks.

But the popular content just greatly reflects the weirdness and wonder in the imagination of a child, and it has been much more far reaching than expected. This service will hopefully be expanded to ensure safe and educational content is reaching children worldwide.

In addition to being added to the UK and Ireland, YouTube Kids was also launched in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
