Pepsi has introduced its brand-new low-cost P1 Android Pepsi smartphone coated with the famous soda brand’s round logo in red, white, and blue. The budget smartphone is being crowdfunded in China for $110 each.

Specifications of the Pepsi P1 Smartphone

Technology specs of the Pepsi smartphone reads that it has a 1080p screen, 2GB of RAM, fingerprint sensor, 4G LTE connectivity, and steel unibody design. The Pepsi P1 is made by Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment Co. It will supposedly launch in China, but not outside Asia’s greatest economy, with a suggested price of about $200.

Pepsi Smartphone Entering the Smartphone World to Beat Coca Cola

The new Android Pepsi smartphone will have mid-range phone features. It comes with a 5.5-inch display screen with full HD resolution, 1.7GHz MediaTek pocessor, 13-megapixel camera as well as 5MP front-facing camera. Pepsi’s phone also has 4G LTE wireless internet, Android’s Lollipop-based OS, microSD port, and 3,000 milliampere-hour battery with a one-day charge. Color options include silver, gold, and blue.

The $78 early bird Pepsi smartphone units are currently sold out. After all the $110 Pepsi mobile phones are gone, backers will have to pay $156 through the Chinese crowdfunding site JD Finance. It seems that Pepsi wants to buy free advertising in its battle with Coca-Cola. Last year it gained the No. 2 spot in the marketplace share rankings for United States carbonated soft drinks, which Diet Coke held since 2010. Pepsi’s market share is currently 8.8%, as compared to Coke’s 17.6%.
