BMW is once again hitting the international art world by once again hosting the Art Basel. From December 3-6, Miami Beach will be home to the BMW Art Journey, which will showcase a mobile artist’s studio.
BMW Art Journey, The Car Maker’s Latest Endeavor
BMW is collaborating with Art Basel to present this project, which offers artists the chance to travel anywhere they choose. The winner of the first edition, Samson Yong, went through five continents, examining iconic bells and posing them against conflict, religion, community and the political symbolism of sounds. The newest installment, which occupies one of 267 spaces that will be filled with contemporary art in the halls of the exhibit, will do the same as of December 2nd. Samson Young will be speaking of his experiences that very night.
BMW Art Journey Gets Its First Edition
In addition to the talks, the night will also host the launch of the first BMW Art Journey publication, which looks into 70 projects on the artistic significance of an artists’ journey. The book called The Sense of Movement: When Artists Travel, discusses the wonder in traveling.
So What is the Importance of an Artist’s Journey?
BMW attempts to convey the beauty of experience, and the depths through which it goes through the eyes and hands of an artist. Artists, and people, in general, live through experiences, vicariously or physically, and BMW has found a way to put it in words and pictures.
