Xbox Succeeds Thanks to Backwards Compatibility

One of the most competitive points in favor of Microsoft’s Xbox One is probably the new backwards compatibility feature. Gamers with Xbox 360 games now have the ability to play them on their Xbox One, which probably prompted a lot of gamers to buy the newer console. Since the feature was added on November 12, users have logged more than 5 million hours of gameplay on Xbox Live.

According to the Microsoft report, gamers logged a total of 325 million hours of gameplay on Xbox Live on the week of Black Friday, which is a 196% increase from 2014’s Black Friday week. The statement also declared that the time using Xbox Apps went up 321% from last year.

Microsoft’s Xbox Store Breaks Sales Records

The sale of Xbox One and Xbox 360 went up 57% at the Xbox Store. Worldwide Xbox Live Gold subscriptions also went up over 40%, and all US Xbox One console sales went up by 22%. This makes for the second most successful Black Friday week for Microsoft’s Xbox in fifteen years.

Xbox One Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition Bundle Was the Best Seller

The Xbox Elite Wireless controller was sold out at all major retailers in the United States upon launch, and the Xbox One alone saw an 88% growth from last year. Windows 10 gaming has seen a lot of success in the last quarter of 2015. Last week was the first week that more hours were spent on Windows 10 than windows 8 in November.

Windows 10 launched in July, and gamers have logged more than 5 million hours spent on Windows 10 gaming on Windows PCs. Last month, almost 30% of all Steam players were logging hours from Windows 10 gaming. Statistics also show that there were more players playing Steam on Windows 10 than on OSX and Linux put together. All in all, it was a great victory for Microsoft.
