Throughout 2016, the relationship people have with their computers, phones and with other people. Microsoft is one of the companies diving head-first onto these advancements. Representatives of the company insist that they will bring significant changes to home and industry lives. Their machines will be more savvy, helping communication with the web and with each other more amusing and productive.

People will be more connected to their AI assistants, and will be able to communicate with them more seamlessly. Microsoft’s Xiaoice is expected to be particularly human-like, and analyst expects users to be able to develop professional relationships with their virtual assistants.

Analysts and also expecting the stylus to be a widespread accessory across all computerized devices.  With the Apple Pencil already widespread through Apple’s iPad Pro, it’s likely that other companies adapt and adopt a sort of stylus for better-computerized navigation.

This analysis is awfully reminiscent to films like Her, where relationships with virtual assistants veer into the personal. This makes the advancements a bit of a double-edged sword. While these AIs will be able to make many tasks easier, it shouldn’t replace interpersonal relationships. It’s still too soon to say whether or not these virtual assistants will be as intelligent as analysts claim, but hopefully they make basic tasks in the home and office easier. Fiction has a funny way of becoming reality, and there’s no telling if virtual dating will become the trend of the late 2010s.
