3 Reasons Why AT&T Could End Up Killing T-Mobile and Sprint with its New 5G

The time to recognize AT&T as the number one phone carrier, even above T-Mobile and Sprint, may soon be upon us. The company recently announced that they are going to start field trials of the faster 5G wireless technology. Austin, Texas is the location they are going to be doing this, and they are going to start this summer.

FIRST REASON AT&T COULD KILL T-MOBILE AND SPRINT

Among the most important features to a smartphone is the wireless speeds. This never used to be the case, but given how advanced these phones are now, it becomes a great deal. Well, it is interesting to note that wireless speeds with 5G could be much faster than with 4G LTE. How much faster is the question, and it could be anywhere from 10 to 100 times faster. Typically, the 4G LTE averages around 10 Mbps to 20 Mbps of downloading speed which is still good, but not as good as the 5G.

SECOND REASON AT&T COULD KILL T-MOBILE AND SPRINT

There is little doubt that AT&T is continuing to gain media attention, and the company themselves proved it. They estimated that their wireless network has grown an astounding 150,000 percent from 2007 to 2015. This is largely in part, says the company, to the amount of video traffic which they said was over 60 percent of their total wireless data in 2015.

THIRD REASON AT&T COULD KILL T-MOBILE AND SPRINT

The chief strategy officer of AT&T, John Donovan, noted how this new 5G technology could help out in other fields. He mentions how this could help with smart cities, robots, self-driving cars, and many other growing technologies in the world. In his own words, 5G could help make all of those a reality. The company expects that by the end of the year, this will be available to fixed locations like homes and buildings.
