Just recently, the ultra-popular messaging app service Snapchat announced their newest feature. This feature is an expansion of the previous geofilter feature. What the company is now allowing is for these to be created for business events, parties, weddings, and any other social event. Basically, a geofilter is a fun way for you to further express your photo by adding graphic stickers to it. With that being said, let’s take a look at a few facts that surround this new feature.
FIRST FACT: WHY SNAPCHAT DESIGNED IT
For those of you who are unaware, this feature has been around for a decent amount of time. However, Snapchat noted how they wanted to expand it. The company said they consistently had people tell them that they wanted geofilters for their private events. It seems like all of those requests paid off because Snapchat has given fans want they wanted, but there is a catch.
SECOND FACT: THIS FEATURE IS NOT FREE
You knew there had to be a catch to this whole thing, right? Snapchat will start most of their geofilters at $5, but this could go up depending on a few factors. The company said that the time period you choose and the size of your geofence are among the factors that will determine the price. Also, they can be bought anywhere from an hour to 30 days.
THIRD FACT: HOW IT WORKS
So, now that you know all of this you are probably wondering how this works. The first thing you are going to need to do is to create a filter. You can do this with any photo-editing software, and Snapchat offers a few good ones. After this, you will need to select your desired geofence, and then you will submit and pay for it. In one business day, Snapchat will review the geofilter and get it rolling.
