PS4 to Beat Xbox with Free Dead Star Game

PS4 to Beat Xbox with Free Dead Star Game Clapway

Sony is spitting out free games as of late to gamers who were affected by the 2011 data breach. While their latest giveaway, isn’t a part of that, it seems that Sony has the upper hand in generosity against their rival Xbox. Dead Star, the anticipated multiplayer shooter will be one of April’s free games for the PS4.

PS4 GAMERS REJOICE AT FREE DEAD STAR GIVEAWAY

A representative from PlayStation said that Dead Star will certainly join the PlayStation Plus lineup this April. The game is just the first of many to be on the lineup for PS4. Excited Plus members can look for plenty of other announcements later this month. Although it’s only the second week of March, it seems that the PlayStation Plus free games lineup are well thought out. Before the announcement, the Dead Star giveaway was discovered by a user attempting to buy the game for PS4. Playstation sends him a notification saying it’s a free game and will be refunded immediately. On top of that, the user got a free Dead Star theme.

WILL FREE GAMES MAKE UP FOR PLAYSTATIONS SCANDAL?

While the Playstation Plus program seems to be its own entity, one must not forget that Sony is legally required to give away free games to PSN users. This is all to due to the 2011 outage. However, many of these free games appear to be for the PS3. Since the PS4 is not backward compatible, there is a slight dilemma. The Xbox One, on the other hand, does have backward compatibility. That only makes the Xbox much more valuable since it can work well with Xbox 360 titles. That being said, Sony is giving out free games, so there are no complaints there. Will it hurt Microsoft though?

XBOX UNAFFECTED BY PLAYSTATION FREE GAMES

Although it looks like Playstation may be being Xbox in the generosity department, Microsft may not have anything to worry about. Their own program that rivals Playstation Plus, “Games with Gold” is going full throttle. Not to mention that users aren’t exactly happy with the quality of games PS4 is releasing for free. Dead Star may be an exception, but Playstation users are growing frustrated with the free indie games that aren’t even backward compatible. Microsoft, on the other hand, has been spitting out some blockbuster titles on their service. Turns out gamers are just like anyone. Quality reigns over quantity every day.
