March 9th will forever be remembered amongst the legion of Minecraft fans. That fateful day, Mojang made the 1.91 Pre-Release 2 download available to players everywhere. Church bells rang, doves filled the sky and streets echoed with the harmonious sounds of human elation! Ok, well perhaps that didn’t quite exactly happen, but the 1.91 Pre-Release 2 is still pretty cool. Here are few things you should know.

1. PRE-RELEASES ARE NOT ACTUAL UPDATES

After all the hype, it turns out that pre-release downloads are not actually updates to the game. Don’t lose hope just yet, they serve a purpose. Pre-release are released before the update (hence the name) in order to catch bugs and fix errors. If you’re experienced with using the files, it’s recommended you get this download.

2. 1.91 WILL MAKE SUBTLE, BUT HELPFUL CHANGES TO MINECRAFT

1.91 Pre-Release 1 added some more noticeable elements such as Elytra sound effects and a better AI. While Pre-Release 2 will have some more subtle changes to Minecraft, gamers can still expect to have many issues smoothed out. That’s always a welcome addition.

3. PRE-RELEASE 2 WILL COOL IT DOWN

Just like Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground the Pre-Release 2 will seek to cool it down. Now, what does this mean besides an opportunity to make a Lou Reed reference?  It means that Pre-Release 2 will find a comfy middle ground between the old cooldown system and the latest adjustment seen in Pre-Release 1.

4. THIS IS JUST A WARM UP

If all the news surrounding Pre-Release 2 is boring you, fret not, for it is just a warm up to the real news. In two weeks Minecraft players will have something substantial to celebrate about once the official 1.91 update is release. Rumor even has it that a new update for Minecraft Pocket Edition will also be released. If that doesn’t titillate your senses, perhaps you’re not a real fan.

5. EXPECT MUSIC, RESOURCE PACKS AND PISTONS

Minecraft fans are rightfully foaming at the mouth in regards to the latest update. The most popular gossip suggest that music, pistons and the addition of resource packs will come to the game.  The latter of which will even be included in the Pocket Edition, with the others, soon following suit.
