VR Child Pornography: 4 Things You Need to Know

VR Child Pornography: 4 Things You Need to Know Clapway

What kind of sick and demented world do we live in where child pornography is a thing? I know it’s technically child pornography even if they’re teenagers, but it’s still completely uncalled for. This is probably even worse when we start talking about VR, also. Down below, you will find four things about this topic that you need to know.

A MAN CONVICTED

Just recently, a man in Japan was sentenced to a year in prison for violating the country’s child pornography laws. This ruling was made by the Tokyo District Court and they stated how this man used over 30 photos of an identifiable girl to create nude photos. I can’t think of a better way to spend your time than depicting child pornography, not!

WHAT THE US CALLS ILLEGAL

For the United States of America if VR content, or regular images, are clear enough so that a minor can be depicted naked then it’s illegal. On the other side of the coin, then, if the VR content depicts non-minor nudity then it’s legal unless it violates something else entirely. I question why minors are being depicted nude in the first place, though.

THE 2003 PROTECT ACT

OK, so I am sure you are wondering what happens if a minor is sexually depicted for artistic purposes? Well, as the 2003 Protect Act points out if the depiction of the minor lacks scientific, artistic, literary, or political value then it’s illegal. It should also be noted that this includes paintings, sculptors, cartoons, and drawings.

A MANGA COLLECTOR WAS CONVICTED

For his comics that depicted child sex, a manga collector was actually sentenced to jail for six months. He didn’t violate the child pornography laws, though, and he actually violated the Protect Act. It’s amazing to think what goes through the minds of some people. Funnily enough, this wasn’t even VR content which is around 3,453 times worse.
