Are you sick of relying on Google to provide you with a free and highly effective email client? Yeah, it’s the worst isn’t it? Thankfully, there are other options for your email needs and the best part is, it’s not free but a meager $3.99 per month. The decision to make the switch may seem obvious, but for those still on the fence here are five things you didn’t know about Microsoft Outlook Premium.

1. YOU CAN SET UP CUSTOM DOMAIN ACCOUNTS

Microsoft’s experiment has begun and they aim to charge users $3.99 per month for use of new, additional features. One of these features allows users to set up custom domain accounts in order to serve as a more professional email address. That way, you won’t have to rely on the childish @outlook.com or the even worse, @hotmail.com.

2.  OUTLOOK PREMIUM WILL BE FREE FOR A YEAR

According to Microsoft Outlook’s landing page, users who sign up for the service will get a few gifts. The service comes with five personalized email address, a free inbox and more. Also, the site states that the entire first year will be free. The subscription will then kick in afterward.

3. IT’S A PILOT PROGRAM

If tall this sounds absolutely amazing to you, just hold on. Take note that Microsoft Outlook Premium is not a pilot program for the time being. The price may very well fluctuate as well as the launch date. Experiment’s can often go foul, so it may be best to wait this one out until some more announcements are solidified.

4. MICROSOFT IS COMPETING WITH ITSELF

Another interesting tidbit of information shows that Microsoft will be competing with themselves with the release of Premium. The company has another program called “Ad-Free Outlook” priced at $19.95 per year. Seeing as that is much more expensive than the $3.99 program that also offers ad-free mail, this will likely drive customers away from the more expensive product. Interesting move.

5. COOPERATION WITH OFFICE 365 HOME

Outlook Premium will work with customers who bought Office 365 Home with a personalized email address. By getting the Premium service, users of Office 365 can invite four other people to create personalized emails. Essentially, this makes Premium a neat standalone product as well as an add-on to Office 365 Home
