Skype Interviews: 5 Things You Need to Know

Skype Interviews: 5 Things You Need to Know Clapway

Let’s face it, technology has affected the world in more ways than one. Due to its convenience, many interviews will be conducted via Skype. Whether this is due to location or any other circumstance, you may end up being in an interview over this service. If this does happen to you, then you need to keep these five things in mind.

1. DRESS FOR A SKYPE INTERVIEW LIKE A NORMAL INTERVIEW

Just because you don’t need to physically go to an interview, you still need to dress like you’re going to one. So, basically don’t wear casual clothes and make sure that you dress for success.

2. TEST YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION

Just to ensure there are no issues with the Skype call, double check your internet connection. Also, to be safe, you could reset your modem/router right before the interview takes place.

3. THINK ABOUT WHERE YOUR LOCATION IS DURING THE SKYPE INTERVIEW

Before you begin your interview on Skype, make sure you are in a good location. For the most part, just try and make sure that there is nothing in the background that is inappropriate. The best location would be in a quiet location; one that is free from interruptions and has a clear backdrop.

4. MAKE SURE YOUR SKYPE PHOTO IS APPRORTIATE

Although this has nothing to do with the physical interview itself, you still don’t want your potential employer to see an inappropriate photo of yourself. Before the interview, take a professional photo of yourself and upload it on Skype. Then, after the interview is over you can change your profile picture back to normal.

5. SEND A LETTER OF APPRECIATION

Just like you might do after a normal interview, make sure to send your interviewer a thank-you note afterwards. Showing your appreciation to them will only increase your chances of being hired.
