Microsoft Windows 10 Upgrades: Top 5 Biggest Failures

Microsoft Windows 10 Upgrades: Top 5 Biggest Failures Clapway

Everybody loves upgrades, but they can only go so far. By putting too much focus on upgrades alone, one can easily lose sight of the big picture. This is exactly what Microsoft did with Windows 10. The company made a couple of mistakes like this at its recent developers conference. Here are five of them.

1. MICROSOFT’S NOT INTERESTED IN SELLING NEW TECH

Paying attention to Windows 10 upgrades is all fine and well, but Microsoft doesn’t exactly seem invested in selling new devices. The recent developers conference not only saw the company failing to push new hardware but they actually encouraged keeping old PC’s. It’s nice that they want to include people old devices, but by not pushing advancements, it’s a bit discouraging.

2.WELCOMING OLDER SYSTEMS TO WINDOWS 10 IS BAD

The iPad Pro was just unveiled two weeks ago. What makes this Apple release important for Microsoft is that they are calling it the ultimate PC replacement. Normally, the appropriate response would be to come out with a device that challenged that notion, or at least announce the plan to do so. Instead, what Windows 10 users got was an invitation to use their old devices with the new operating system. Sure, that’s cool, but will it be enough?

3. THE PERSONAL COMPUTER IS DYING

The reason those with an older PC may not have upgraded is because they’ve transferred the tasks to other devices. Personal computers are no longer the only option. Between smartphones, tablets or a combination of the two, it’s much easier to get on without buying a new system. If Windows 10 spread across these platforms, that would be one thing. However, Windows 10 is generally for PC only. That limits the exposure severely.

4. THEY HAD NO GOOD NEWS TO SHARE

If you have nothing good to say, then don’t say it at all. That seems to be the method Microsoft is going with. If they had good news to share regarding new machines, then they certainly would have mentioned that at the conference. Seeing as they only focused on Windows upgrades shows that they didn’t just leave out the news, they didn’t have any to begin with.

5. THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO BOOST SALES

With no plan in place for PC’s, it’s pretty unclear what Microsoft can do in order to boost sales. PC sales are tanking over the past several years. While Windows functionality has had some good reviews, that won’t matter if nobody has a device in which to run it on.
