Mafia 3 News and Updates: 5 Things You Didn’t Know Clapway

With a console generation ruled by multiplayer centered games and shooters, gamers will finally get a taste of story-driven narrative with Mafia 3 on October 7. Publisher 2K Games, broke the news through Mafia 3’s official Twitter page. With a new developer at the helm of the series, Mafia 3 looks to make a big splash this fall.

News of My Demise is Greatly Exaggerated

The mafia series is no stranger to long gaps between titles. The Original Mafia released in 2002 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. News of Mafia 2’s pending release first surfaced in 2004, but the game didn’t see the light of day until 2010. Rumors stirred in 2012 about a possible Mafia 3, but news of its official announcement didn’t surface until last year. Patience is key when dealing with the Mafia series.

Hangar 13: Becoming a Made Man

Hangar 13 in Novato, California is taking on the task of continuing the Mafia series. The newest 2K studio was founded in 2014 and is headed by LucasArts veteran Haden Blackman. Hangar 13 is made up of numerous individuals that all bring an extensive background to the table. The previous Mafia developer 2K Czech is assisting the new developer with Mafia 3.

Mafia 3 Heads to the Big Easy

Mafia 3 takes players out of the 1950s Empire City, and places them in New Bordeaux during the late 1960s. A reimagining of New Orleans, New Bordeaux contains all the glitz and glam one would expect walking down Bourbon Street.

A Dish Best Served Cold

Mafia 3 puts players in control of Lincoln Clay. Clay is a Vietnam veteran, returning home to New Bordeaux to join the Black Mob. After a run-in with the Italian Mob, which leaves Clay’s friends dead and Clay clinging for his life, Clay sets out for revenge. Throughout the game, players will work towards building a criminal organization in hopes of getting back at those who wronged Clay.

Was the Son of a Preacher Man

For the first time in the series, Mafia will be a true open world game. There’s no news on the size of New Bordeaux, but it is likely Mafia 3 will be the biggest game in the series. Following past entries in the series, the game will likely feature licensed music that will add to the atmosphere of the 1960s. No news on the soundtrack has been released, but one could guess Dusty Springfield’s Son of a Preacher Man will make the final track list.
