Medical Marijuana News: Benefits and Stupidity

Medical Marijuana News: Benefits and Stupidity Clapway

Medical marijuana has its highs and lows. That is no news to anyone, at least one would think. Apparently, outside that liberal, millennial bubble so many people live in, there are still people who are against the use of weed for medical, recreational or agricultural uses. Without sounding too opinionated, that thought process is pure stupidity. The drug has many proven, medical benefits.

MARIJUANA IS A DRUG BUT IT HAS BENEFITS

Is a drug a drug, right? Well, yes and no. Marijuana is a drug, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. After all, what are those pills we get at pharmacies? I think some people call them drugs. Others may call them medicine. Marijuana is no different. It has its benefits but also has a list of side effects. Despite these side effects, news from the journal Scientific Reports shows that pot has a low incidence of causing any real harm compared with other drugs. That being said, one should still be wary when trying it.

DRUG NEWS: IS WEED FOR YOU?

So what kind of people need medical marijuana? Well for one, it is extremely effective at treating chronic pain issues (no pun intended). At the time being, the go to for chronic pain symptoms seems to be opioids. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that opioids are extremely dangerous and addictive. Sure, they work, but is it worth the risk? It’s not, but good news, marijuana works as well. Another downside to opioids is that they decrease your pain tolerance with regular use. Weed, on the other hand, has no such effect, plus it’s not addictive. Now, everyone is different, so it’s not easy to just pick a strain a smoke up. It will take some research to see what dosage you will need, just like any drug. Don’t let the news reports fool you, though, the benefits are there.

TALk TO YOUR DOCTOR

As with any medical condition, it’s best to talk to your doctor. Unless they are insane, they will agree that medical cannabis has its benefits. That being said, your doctor won’t give you unbias news about the substance like your drug dealer down the street. Cannabis has a wealth of positives you can enjoy, but in a medical setting, just treat it with respect and you’ll be fine.
