Microsoft to Possess your DNA, Youtube to Possess Porn Clapway

Cloud storage is so 2015. Microsoft is looking into a new way to store data, and it involves human DNA. As the software company continues to break the mold with their ambitions, YouTube seems to be going down a slightly different track.

MICROSOFT MAY OWN DNA SOMEDAY

Users today are generating more data than ever. Because of this, companies like Google, Amazon and Dropbox have all taken to the cloud to store our precious content. Microsoft is hardly satisfied. The company is now looking to DNA molecules to store data. If the idea of a company owning your DNA is frightening, don’t worry. Microsoft will be purchasing 10 million stands of lab made molecules from a San Francisco startup. So for the time being, humans will not be harvested like in the Matrix.  So why go for something this extreme? An external HD should be more than enough to store your massive porn collection right?

THE FUTURE OF STORAGE

Even if your external HD is enough to store your massive porn collection, someday that device will degrade. For this reason, DNA molecules are a unique idea because they do not wear out in the same way that physical devices do. Think about how data could remain intact and readable 10,000 years into the future. Just one cubic millimeter of DNA could be used to store an entire exabyte of data. In layman’s terms, that’s one billion gigabytes according to Microsoft Research estimates. The concept is still fair ways off, but it looks like Microsoft is taking the appropriate steps to prepare. Perhaps YouTube should take notes.

YOUTUBE IS PORN OBSESSED

To the untrained eye, it may seem like YouTube is just the friendly, neighborhood video sharing site that we’ve all come to know and love. Take a deeper look. Underneath that cute, innocent facade, is a dank, slimy, sticky underground filled with the likes of porn no man has ever seen. Ok, perhaps that is an exaggeration, however, YouTube does seem to be embracing the shrewd form of entertainment. They used to at least hide porn throughout the site, and in some ways, the still do. Now, it seems like they may not even be trying. Just a quick Google search with the words “porn” and “YouTube” will back that statement up. You have the necessary tools now, so get at it.
