China To Protect Humans with Real Life RoboCop

China To Protect Humans with Real Life RoboCop Clapway

Real life RoboCop may be patrolling streets in China in not so distant future. Taking away the human element of compassion may be disastrous for law enforcement in China. And the world. Could this be another way to continue communist rule over the people? Chinese RoboCop never gets tired or second-guesses commands. This may offer safer, and more dangerous policing strategies. The China version of RoboCop may not be as awesome and cool as Hollywood’s version. However, it may still do some pretty impressive police work. It can detect bombs, Taser suspects, and hold criminals down with a Kung-Fu grip worthy of G.I. Joe. What does a RoboCop mean for the world? Could this be a good thing?

China AnBot Defense

The AnBot project may be a $1.5 billion market, depending on demand, according to reports. The AnBot prototype was on display at the Hi-Tech Expo in China, but development is still moving forward. Manufacturers of the AnBot hope to get the price under $15,000 before offering it to the public. AnBot development may be a response to the growing violence in China over recent years. It has facial recognition, can patrol for up to eight hours without rest, and can move as fast as 18 kilometers per hour. The first AnBots will patrol borders, airports, bus stations, and of course, military facilities.

Military Researchers Behind RoboCop

The project is run by Chinese military researchers. This could be a preview of where they want the project to go. It could be possible that RoboCop is a prototype for military defense and offense. As if China’s military wasn’t already big enough. It will be used in public areas, including schools, airports and banks. Ethical questions about the project have already come to light by human-rights groups around the world. The Chinese government may abuse the military aspect of RoboCop. As well as its inability to question commands, putting citizens at risk.

Will RoboCop Raise U.S. and Chinese Tensions?

A robotic police officer may have its positives, but it could also have a negative effect as well. Tensions between the U.S. and China are always high, despite economic growth. The Chinese military is also known for its aggressive tactics in Asia. Claiming islands and using its position of power to bully neighboring countries like Japan, Korea and Vietnam. The AnBot could easily become a military tool that is more effective, efficient and expendable. Does the U.S. have an answer to the AnBot? Or is Terminator closer to reality than we think?
