Usually, Microsoft does a pretty decent job of destroying themselves, but in this situation, Apple is to blame. The latest iPad Pro is being dubbed “The Surface Killer” and for good reason, however, the Cupertino company still faces some challenges of their own.

The one thing Microsoft had over Apple was their Surface. The popular detachable tablet provided the company with a much-needed boost and even game them a lead for a brief period. That quickly changed when Apple released the iPad Pro in March. The largest and fastest tablet from Apple has quickly grown in popularity due to some healthy additions and general enterprise-friendliness. For a little while, the Cupertino was seeing sales decline for their tablets, but now it looks like their main growth come entirely from the new detachable.

APPLE STEALS THE THUNDER ONCE AGAIN

Microsoft just can’t catch a break. It can be argued that they created the market for detachable tablets with the launch of the Surface device. However, Apple once again has stolen the thunder as their own detachable begins to take the lead. During the first quarter of 2016, the Cupertino company supped over 10.3 million iPads. While these numbers are down compared to last year, reports say they still have the largest share of the market. Don’t rule out the Surface quite yet, though, it has the ability for a comeback.

A RESURFACE LOOPHOLE

If Microsoft wants any part in getting their Surface back to competing with the iPad, they can do so with one little trick The secret lies in customer service. According to a J.D Power study, customer satisfaction in the tablet market is rising significantly for Microsoft. iPad support has always been good, but it’s beginning to slack some say. If Surface support can out help iPad support, it just might be the boost they need to draw customers in their direction.
