Google and Chrysler to Destroy Tesla; will Nissan Leaf Join? Clapway

Tesla has changed the future of the auto industry. While others just try to keep up, one company is looking to out-innovate the electric car maker. Chrysler is teaming up with Google to make autonomous cars a reality. This could very well represent the new future of travel. Competitors like Nissan Leaf have also realized that and seek to blaze their own trail.

CHRYSLER AND GOOGLE CUT DEAL FOR ROBOT CARS

At the moment, Chrysler has a deal with Google to build 100 prototype autonomous minivans, however, this could just be the start of a long lasting relationship that would bring Chrysler to the top of the auto industry. Google has been developing self-driving technology for the past seven years, and Chryslers CEO, Sergio Marchionne wisely caught on to their brilliance. What started out as just an initial deal for 100 cars will hopefully see Marchionne as a leader in the industry.

TESLA IN THE SIGHTS

When it comes to developing auto technology, Tesla is the model to take after. Chrysler has long been behind the competition when it came to developing certain technologies. Now, it seems they want to go from keeping up with the Jones’s to taking the throne in one fell swoop. Tesla may have the electric car market in their hands, but when it comes to self-driving cars, they are no better than anyone else at the moment. Tesla has been in the sights of every competitor imaginable, but this innovation could represent a serious threat to them. Will competitors like Nissan Leaf join in on the hunt?

DON’T COUNT OUT NISSAN LEAF

Google and Chrysler aren’t the only ones looking to get into the self-driving game. In fact, everyone is jumping on the technology. Nissan Leaf has been a major competitor to Tesla due to its electric capabilities, but the  car maker plans to add autonomous features to the Nissan Leaf over the next four years. At the moment, it is still int eh test phases, but the company has reported their experiments have been successful. They may not have the hype that Google and Chrysler have surrounding them, but Nissan Leaf’s model has always been simplicity, functionality, and affordability and it certainly seems to work for them.
