Sharp. Flashy. Bold. These aren’t usually the words one would use when talking about a minivan. Yet, the 2017 Kia Sedona is not your average minivan. It’s clear that time and a conscious effort was put into this vehicle, making it a well-rounded van for families and even the experienced road warrior. Before you race to the dealership, though, here are five things to know about this car.

1. KIA SEDONA: FIRST CLASS COMFORT

Let’s face it. You don’t buy a minivan for its looks. Minivans need to carry humans and cargo from point A to point B. It’s a bonus if this is done in style. Fortunately, that’s just what we have here in the 2017 version. Second-row seating in this minivan is lavish, to say the least. Furthermore, for those that splurge for the $43,295 version, they’ll get a sliding second row of seats called the First Class Lounge Seating. The name certainly fits the design.

2. KIA SEDONA IS AN EASY DRIVE

Barey any effort is required to drive this minivan. Steering is light and the van is surprisingly maneuverable with a 36-foot turning circle. When things get a little bumpy, the succulent suspension takes over and the 276 horsepower 3.3 liter V-6 takes care of the rest.

3.KIA SEDONA HAS AVERAGE FUEL ECONOMY

This minivan certainly isn’t anything like the Toyota Prius Prime when it comes to fuel economy, but it holds its own for a minivan. Of course, this all depends on what model you get. The L, LX, and EX get an EPA figure of 17 MPG city and 24 MPG highway. The SX boosts those numbers up to 25 mpg highway.

4. KIA SEDONA TAKES OFF LIKE A ROCKET

Soccer moms are in a rush all the time so they’ll appreciate the quick acceleration in this medication. The Limited model hits 60 mph in just 7.4 seconds and crosses the quarter-mile mark in 15.8 seconds at 91 mpg. Sure, it’s no supercar but it will help you get in time so the lasagna doesn’t burn.

5. KIA SEDONA IS SAFE

Minivans attract families and families desire safety. The last thing you want when shuttling 8 kids to Chuck E. Cheese for a birthday party is a nasty accident. Hence, families will love the upgraded safety features int he 2017 model. Features like the collision warning system, blind spot monitor, and a 360-degree camera will help keep all the little ones safe (and the adults too).
