Top 10 Websites Similar to Imgur and Reddit Clapway

Anyone that is hip to the internet probably knows about Imgur. The free image hosting website lets you share, upload and embed images without even using an account.  Because of this, it has gained a loyal following and is now the go-to website to quickly share a picture, meme of GIF.

Reddit is mostly responsible for launching the image hosting website into the forefront however, it’s not without its faults. Limitations exist for  both websites and have inspired the release of alternative options. Quite a few of them are out there so let’s get down to brass tax and narrow it down to 10.

1. SMUG MUG: IMGUR FOR PRO’S AND SMUG REDDIT PEOPLE

SmugMug is still a relative underdog. It does not have a giant community like Imgur or Flickr. Addiontaly, it lacks 500px. That being said, it does have some amazing tools for the pro photographer. For anyone that’s really serious about putting pictures up for sale, SmugMug is the way to go.

Imgur is great for the average Reddit neckbeard, but there’s more to life than just posting dank memes on Reddit. Some people actually want to contribute their art online and perhaps even make a profit from it. Smug Mug lets photographers create custom galleries to show off your work in a unique way. The free trial is a bit limited but opting for the paid subscription will definitely be worth it.

2. DEVIANTART: IMGUR FOR ARTISTS NOT FOR REDDIT

For those looking to post cat memes and pun jokes, look no further than Reddit. However, any artists out there who just love art galleries, your time might be better spent on Deviant Art. Unlike Imgur, DeviantArt is for artists and not for photographers. It’s a terrific place if you want to look at some rad pictures and dope art. The popular art gallery website lets you look at art as well as socialize with the cool community they have built up over the years. No antagonizing grammar nazis here . Just a free place to hang out with like-minded artists.

2. DEVIANTART: IMGUR FOR ARTISTS NOT FOR REDDIT Clapway3. IMGREVIEW: IMGUR FOR REDDIT HIPSTERS

For the legions of Reddit hipsters, too cool to use Imgur, perhaps Imgreview would be a better option. This option is not as popular as Imgur or other alternatives, but it’s a worthy pick. Like Imgur, Reddit users can upload pictures quickly and share them without signing up for anything. Imgreview also lets you find images from users based on preferences. Another awesome feature of Imgreview is that it allows you to take text from images. In the future, developers will be adding new features like editing, annotation and more that will bring this to the next level of cool.

4. TINYPIC: FOR PEOPLE WHO DON’T KNOW IMGUR OR REDDIT

Judging by their website, it doesn’t seem that TinyPic is very hip to the fact, dog. That being said, Tinypic is a fast, easy and reliable video and image hosting shit that people can use to share experiences. Like Imgur, there is no registration or log-in needed. Simply submit your picture or video and take off. This is perfect for linking to MySpace (do people still use that?) eBay message boards and forums. Don’t use it on Reddit though because they’ll make some pun relating to you know what. Seriously, though, Tinypic seems stuck in 2005. It probably won’t stand up to the cringe-worthy demands of Redditors.

5. PHOTOBUCKET: LIKE IMGUR BUT IN A BUCKET

Another site that could disrupt the neckbeards is Photobucket. Unlike other sites, users need to sign up for an account in order to use its uploading feature. This will likely make it a major inconvenience for those who use Reddit. They simply don’t have the 5 minutes it would take to register since they’re too busy uploading nude pics of Jennifer Lawrence. The process of using Photobucket is incredibly easy. Simply log into your Photobucket account and click “upload”. From there, you just choose the photos you want to upload and away you go, bro. Users can also edit the uploaded image by clicking the edit. Additionally, shapes, lines, texts frames and more can be added. For photo addicts out there, this is a healthy alternative.

6. FREE IMAGE UPLOADER: FREER THAN IMGUR AND REDDIT WILL LOVE IT

While Imgur is free, somehow Free Image Uploader is just more free. Like most image uploaders, this one is simple to use. Additionally, it doesn’t require anyone to create an account. You Reddit bro’s out there will love that. Now you have more free time to upload those nude pics of J. Law. It’s so easy to use that even the non-Reddit user can figure it out. It’s simply just a matter of clicking and uploading. Moreover, all images uploaded store themselves in the free Cloud space provided by the site. Take that Flickr. Do they have cloud space? Well, they might but that’s not the point. Free Image Uploader is for the people. For us by us, as they say.

7. IMAGE BAM: MORE EXCITING THAN IMGUR AND REDDIT

Nothing quite riles up a crowd like the word ‘bam’. There’s Bam Margera, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) and now, Image Bam. As exciting as the name sounds, it’s certainly no Imgur. At least not in looks. Redditors will love the stripped down interface of Image Bam. Heck, Reddit love anything stripped down. Especially Jenny Lawrence. In all seriousness, though, Image Bam is free, simple and perhaps one of the fastest image uploaders in the west (and east). If you’re sick of alternatives then buckle down and bam up with Image Bam.

7. IMAGE BAM: MORE EXCITING THAN IMGUR AND REDDIT Clapway8. FAPOMATIC: IMGUR FOR PORN ADDICTS AND REDDIT FAPPERS

Redditors will especially love this next alternative. Fapomatic is a free, adult friendly image hosting website. Users can store their adult pictures on Fapomatic and then post them on message boards using the website. Seeing as the majority of Reddit users are cynical, millennial perverts who love to fap, it looks like they have found a friend in Fapomatic. Most image uploaders websites work fine for cute puppy pics and what not but to get down and dirty, you’re going to need an image uploader to match your sick mind.

9. FLICKR: YAHOO’S TAKE ON IMGUR FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC REDDIT USERS

Flickr? Hardly even knew her! Well, enough with that excuse. No, you will know Flickr, whether you like it or not. Despite all of Yahoo’s shortcomings, they have decided to give the whole Imgur thing a try. The result is Flickr, the photo sharing platform that has become quite popular with photographers and yes, even Redditors. Flickr gives users about 1 TB of totally free storage along with infinite photos on display. That’s right. Infinite. Go ahead and even test it out if you like. That being said, there is a limit on picture size. 200 MB is all you’re allowed but you’ll have an unlimited resolution. Flickr might be the most limited unlimited experience you’ll ever have. If Imgur has got you down or Reddit has become a bore, Flickr is a great alternative.

9. FLICKR: YAHOO'S TAKE ON IMGUR FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC REDDIT USERS Clapway10. 500 PX: THE REDDIT OF IMGUR

500 px is a community. However, it’s a photography community, at least according to the company. 500px has always had a great reputation for a strong community and it’s only getting stronger by the day. Like Reddit, 500px uses a democratic voting system of sorts. People can log in, vote for their favorite pictures and then share their own. Unlike Imgur, 500px has advanced editing tools and unique features like portfolio building.
