Our world of adventure can be dangerous, even if that adventure is in our backyard. One thing we hate more than anything is losing something. It may not be considered dangerous to lose something, unless that something is a beloved pet or child. The latest trend to make sure your child doesn’t run off on you or you don’t lose anything else, is GPS tracking. Often these involve service subscriptions or something else that’s too expensive, but I know the adventure you want to be having is not one into the back corners of your bank account. The people at Iotera also know this, and that’s why they made the Iota.
The Iota is a small white box, well, two boxes actually. One is installed in your home and acts like a home base. The other is installed wherever you want, on whatever you’re trying to protect. You see, the Iota isn’t just good for GPS tracking. It features an accelerometer and a thermometer as well. That means you can use it to tell if a door or window or safe has been opened by an intruder, or you can tell if you’re house is burning down or that the car is too hot for the dog you left in the backseat.
The Iota has a range from its home base to the smaller Iota device of 1-4 miles. That is a very unimpressive distance when you first think about it, but the genius of the Iota is that it works on a network. Now if you live out in the middle of nowhere and don’t have a neighbor for 20 miles in any which direction, than perhaps the Iota isn’t for you, but in the city or suburbs, it’s very conceivable that a few people living close by will also have an Iota system. A small Iota device attached to whatever it is you attached it to will use the closest home system to determine its coordinates and other information. Even if that home base is not yours, all of the information on your Iota device is kept secure under your user account. It simply uses the network of Iota home bases to piggyback that information around and back to you.
The Iota is a very helpful tool to anyone who loses things easily, or just wants that peace of mind to not have to constantly worry about the state of their possessions and more free moving, adventure inclined loved ones. If everyone around the world had an Iota, all things would be documented, which sounds like Big Brother, but when you think about it, it’s just people doing a better job at being responsible.
