At this very moment in time, 64-year-old millionaire, Mr. Ian Argus Stuart, resides on a volcanic island located in the middle of the Pacific. The entrepreneur can certainly afford a month-long stay at a five-star hotel – and in fact, he has owned some of the most luxurious boats and properties in the world. Yet, he has chosen to spend 21-days on a remote archipelago, voluntarily becoming a solo castaway via Docastaway, a travel company that specializes in remote desert island experiences on uninhabited islands in Indonesia, the Philippines and Central America.
A true nomad at heart, Stuart volunteered for his first castaway experience back in July, opting to spend 3 weeks on a remote island in Indonesia. He is Docastaway’s oldest client, the first without the ability to swim, and with a doubt, the most adventurous. According to Alvaro Cerezo, the General Manager of Docastaway, he possesses a unique personality, one that finds him flying first class one day, and sleeping on island floors the next. In Indonesia, for example, he learned a variety of useful survival skills, but would also venture up to the highest part of the island to connect with the London Stock Exchange, and deal with shares.

Upon his first encounter with the entrepreneur, Cerezo understood right away that material things were trivial for the adventurer. Stuart, whose wardrobe was comprised modestly of two trousers and shirts, confessed that he didn’t need any objects. What he wanted was a risk – a challenge that would motivate him to push himself to the limit.
Luckily for Stuart, Cerezo has found the perfect destination to match his needs.
“This time, he is going to face a way more challenging experience.”

The remote island is located miles and miles away from civilization, and Stuart must survive solely on what Mother Nature provides. This means no food, no water, but plenty of volcanic gases. He will also need to conquer rough waters to get ashore, despite not knowing how to swim.
The daring adventure began on November 9th. By the end of the entire journey, Stuart hopes to reach the top of a volcanic crater. Until then, however, he keeps followers updated on his castaway experience using satellite technology and a camera to document his experience.
