There are a few vital things an adventurer should always be carrying – food and water being the two most obvious items. All too often, other necessities are forgotten, i.e. a homemade parachute. Seriously, you’ll never know when it will come in handy during an outdoor adventure.
ITEMS YOU WILL NEED:
1. A loose, flimsy plastic bag
2. A large bowl or plate
3. A pen
4. Twine or string
5. Scissors
6. Masking tape
7. A small weight
8. Hole puncher
STEPS TO CREATE YOUR OUTDOOR ADVENTURE PARACHUTE:
To make your homemade parachute, first lay your plastic bag on a flat surface. Then, using the pen and a large plate, trace a perfect circle onto your bag. This will serve as the basic shape of your parachute.
Next, cut the circle out and mark four evenly spaced places along the edges. Reinforce these areas using a small piece of tape:
Then, using your hole puncher, punch four holes on the areas you marked. Cut off four pieces of twine that are the same size in length, and tie one piece to each of the four holes. Once this is done, bring the four strings together and tie them to a small weight. TA-DA!
You now have yourself a homemade parachute. Practice dropping it from varying heights to test your masterpiece. Scale to size for use with an actual human.
