Toyota announced that it would start to build hybrid RAV4s, due to positive reception from consumers. The RAV4s, known for their reliability and high quality, will be upgraded through Toyota’s New Global Architecture program, which looks to find new innovative approaches to developing and building cars. As part of this program, the Cambridge North Plant will be given new investment as to better accommodate the needs of the vehicle line and the demands of the market.

The expansion between Woodstock and Cambridge in Ontario for the manufacture of RAV4s are the fruits of Toyota’s $1 billion investment, which also includes the plan to move the manufacturing of Corolla’s to Mexico. Their efforts bring more than 1,500 jobs to different regions of North America, including Kentucky, Alabama, Indiana, West Virginia, Mississippi, Texas, Canada and Mexico. By reigning in more manufacturing to America, Toyota hopes to optimize their product efficiency and make several adjustments and upgrades to production costs and processes, and ultimately bring consumers the best possible automobiles with the best possible resources.
