According to Paul Mackenzie, Executive Director of McLaren Special Operations, the special edition McLaren 650S Spider offered a good opportunity to showcase the rich history of the Middle East, part of which lies in the beauty of the desert that blankets the region. By combining luxury with McLaren’s craftsmanship and the beauty of the Middle East, the car maker has brought the new limited edition McLaren 650S Spider Al Sahara 79. Al Sahara, which means ‘desert’ in Arabic, was chosen as the cars model name both as to fit the concept and in honor of the white gold paint it’s bathed in.

Special Edition McLaren 650S Spider Painted With Real Gold

The McLaren 650S Spider Al Sahara 79 uses real particles of 24-carat gold, which is honored in the ’79’ part of the model name, which is gold’s atomic number. This version of the McLaren 650S Spider also comes with a retracting roof and lightweight alloys in black finish, with carbon fiber in the side blades to five it an air of aggression.

The McLaren 650S Spider Al Sahara 79 has its switchgear and vents finished in dark gold, to contrast the white gold paint in the fascia and door panels. The sport seats come in black and almond white leather, and are electrically adjustable.
