After announcing the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 in August, Xiaomi has unveiled a variation of the new smartphone, the Xiaomi Metal-Clad Redmi Note 3. The new version of the Redmi Note 3 is metal-clad and has a fingerprint scanner on the back, and its name was changed just before being unveiled to the pubic.

The new Xiaomi Metal-Clad Redmi Note 3 unlocks in 0.3 seconds via the fingerprint scanner, featuring a 5.5″ 1080p display. It’s set to come with 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage. Xiaomi has also declared that the phone comes with a 4,000mAh battery, which is unexpectedly large for the 8.65mm thick phone.

The smartphone comes with MediaTek‘s Helio X10 64-bit Octa-core processor, with a PowerVR G6200 GPU for graphics. It features a 13-megapixel camera on the back, and it can autofocus in 0.1 seconds, according to Xiaomi, and a 5-megapixel front camera. It will feature 4G LTE network connectivity.

Redmi Note 3 Will Come in Silver, Gold and Dark Grey

The phone will come with Android’s 5.1 MIUI OS pre-installed. Available in Silver, Gold or Dark Grey, the phone is set to be cheaper than the Redmi Note 2, at $141 in China. The Redmi Note 2, on the other hand, is selling at $172.
