WHAT CHINA AND KOREA ARE PLANNING ON CLONING

Xu Xiaochun, the chairman of Boyalife, stated that they and Biotech are going to start production next year. Xiaochun mentioned that they are going to start with 100,000 cattle embryos. He then mentioned how that would grow to one million embryos. He stated that one of the main reasons they are cloning cattle is because the Chinese are struggling to produce enough beef to meet the market demand. However, he also said that they are planning on making dogs and horses as well.

SOCIAL MEDIA USERS STILL HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT CLONING ANIMALS IN CHINA AND KOREA

The main thing that social media users pointed out is whether or not eating cloned meat was safe. One user was quoted as saying if the meat was being sold in China to have the leaders eat it first before selling it. Another wrote a comment joking about the leaders having to eat the cloned meat for 10 years before they deem it safe. Many users have also pointed out that the plant is being built close to the site of deadly chemicals that killed many people earlier in the year.

IS CLONING ANIMALS GOOD?

If the meat turns out to be safe to eat, then cloning animals could be very useful for the world. However, if the meat is simply not flavorful or if it causes sickness, then it should be avoided. There are a lot of questions for animal cloning right now and they need to be answered before this goes global.
