Although 2015 has been a tragic year for Volkswagen, the car maker announced that the Volkswagen 2016 PASSAT has been chosen as Top Safety Pick by the IIHS. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has recognized the car for its optional Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking features.
Volkswagen 2016 PASSAT is Safe, but Is it Safe For the Environment?
It’s quite ironic that the car maker was awarded a safety pick award, given the fact that they’ve had to recall millions of their cars because they were unsafe for the environment. In any case, the Volkswagen 2016 PASSAT was but through IIHS’s Small Overlap Front Crash test, and received the highest score possible for the ‘good’ rating.
The Volkswagen 2016 PASSAT met or exceeded all expectations in regards to this test. The features are truly safe, which makes the car deserving of the award. It has an Automatic Post-Collision Braking system and comes with the option of getting Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, a Lane Departure Warning system, a passive and active Blind Spot Monitor and a Rear Traffic Alert with braking. Hopefully, Volkswagen will incorporate these features onto all of their future cars and get some more attention deviated from their gas emissions scandal.

With the victories of the Volkswagen 2016 PASSAT, all that’s left for the car maker to do is make their cars a little more green in addition to being safe. As the new year settles in, Volkswagen will probably focus on marketing their cars to be greener, safer and more efficient than ever before. We could even see some promotions as the end of the year sales start to come in, because that would potentially bring some pretty attractive deals for those in need of a car and that don’t necessarily care about the emissions test scandal that Volkswagen underwent earlier in the year.
