Apple is indeed a great company, but even the best have released products that have been a massive failure.
Apple is no exception, and here are six failures that Microsoft was no doubt laughing at.
FAILURE ONE: APPLE LISA
This home computer was one of Steve Jobs’ first devices and it never had a chance as the starting price for it was $10,000. Microsoft must have been laughing their tails off as soon as they saw the price.
FAILURE TWO: APPLE III
This next device was created way back in 1978, and it was a problem from the get go. The motherboard on this beast would overheat way too quickly, and it was a very buggy machine as well.
FAILURE THREE: ROKR
The ROKR was a phone that did not have a good shelf life. Jobs also could not have started this out any worse as when he presented it he could not switch the phone from taking a call, to playing music. Also, the phone only had 1 GB of memory, which was not good data capability.
FAILURE FOUR: 20TH ANNIVERSARY MAC
This next device was supposed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the company. However, yet again, the starting price of this computer scared people away. This Mac had a starting price of $8,000 but was eventually reduced to $2,000. This was one of the first computers to use an LCD screen, but that did not save it in the end.
FAILURE FIVE: MOBILEME
MobileMe was an absolutely colossal failure. It was so bad that Steve Jobs actually fired the man who was the head of this project, on the spot. Apparently, the manager of this project stated that because Jobs did not allow his employees to voice their concern, the issues could not be fixed.
FAILURE SIX: MACINTOSH TV
The Macintosh TV literally lasted around a year. I can just see the looks on the faces of the members of Microsoft when Apple released this TV. It would not even allow users to see a television feed through a desktop window.
