New reports state that the United States military is working on a chip that can turn soldiers into cyborgs. Will the US use a Terminator to Fight ISIS?
US Military Wants to Make Terminators to Connect Brains to Computers
A brain-to-machine platform is in the works thanks to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. They hope to make the kind of neural connection that can open a channel of communication between the human brain and modern electronics. Making cyborgs look to be the American military’s new mission.
The US Will Have No Match If They Create Super Soldiers
The DARPA is cooperating with a new Neural Engineering System Design team that will make all study related to making cyborg soldiers. They will have to find a way that one supercomputer, the brain, can connect and interact with another physical one. If people use the right tools, it’s definitely possible.
The ideal chip size, according to DARPA, will be no bigger than one cubic centimeter. It is to be implanted on the human brain and convert electrochemical signals to binary code. This could enhance hearing or vision of military soldiers carrying out special and dangerous missions. This could include a potential fight against ISIS and the Islamic State in the future.
When Will The New Terminators Be Up Against ISIS?
Sadly, there’re a lot of advancements that need to be made before these cyborgs are even possible. A lot of research must be done on neuroscience, synthetic biology, medical device manufacturing and low power electronics.
Will these chips every be available to consumers? Also not likely. Eventually, maybe, it’ll make its way to the commercial market. There’s no telling just how powerful chips for consumers will be, but they will probably be too expensive or dangerous to be used by just anyone. It can be put into other electronics, or used for navigation or speech translation.
Terminator Soldiers Could Be Terminator Doctors
Another ideal approach to this would come in the shape of an accessory for surgeons and doctors. This would help them handle surgeries more efficiently if vision is enhanced. We might not hear much about the development of this technology since the US military is very quiet about their exploits, but we know now that super soldiers are definitely possible.
