For those of you who are not aware, MapQuest still exists! Many people have moved on from this service and are now using Google and Bing. However, there are still reasons why MapQuest should be used, and here are three huge ones.
FIRST REASON
When you are trying to find your destination, and get directions, the most important aspect is clarity. This service does not waste its time making their product with illustrious 3-D buildings and flyovers. Instead, MapQuest focuses on making a clean user interface that is extremely easy to use. What this service achieves is an experience that is very fresh, and one that will easily provide you with the information that you need.
SECOND REASON
Besides having a very clean interface, MapQuest also features a tremendous slide out menu for customization. This slide option gives the user the option of adding multiple layers to the map. Some of these include adding hotels, gas stations, food, and satellite imagery. Not only this but users can also add their own options to the map. For example, you could have “GameStop” as an option and it would locate whenever it came across one.
THIRD REASON
Probably the coolest feature to MapQuest, and the reason why people should still use it is it automatically adds traffic information. So, this ensures that the user is always aware if an area is experiencing heavy traffic. This is important because if someone is low on time, they can avoid an area that is experiencing traffic jams. Users do not have to worry about this being out of date either because the app updates this information every couple of minutes. Also, it will show users how much time they will save if they choose to take a different route. Basically, MapQuest is not going to visually blow you away, but it is one of the most reliable apps of its kind.
