4 Things That Differentiate Chrome from Firefox Clapway

Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are two of the most popular web browsers in the world. Even though they work very similarly, there are some noteworthy differences between them.

DIFFERENCE NUMBER 1: STARTUP SPEED

We actually tested both web browsers start-up speed, and we found that Google Chrome was faster. Now, it should be noted that all cache was cleared before this test. Google Chrome took around three seconds to start-up, and Firefox took four seconds. Not a big difference, but Firefox is still a little slower.

DIFFERENCE NUMBER 2: MEMORY USAGE

The next step we performed was testing on what browser used more memory when one tab was open. Chrome, while one tab was opened, was using around one percent of its total RAM. Firefox, on the other hand, ended up using around 12 percent of the total RAM.

DIFFERENCE NUMBER 3: SECURITY SCORE

There are many websites that will test the security of your browser, and we tested both Firefox and Chrome. Well, as it turns out, the latter got a security score of 15/100, and the former got a security score of 12/100. Google, you just seem to keep on winning!

DIFFERENCE NUMBER 4: URL LOADING TIME

This next aspect is probably the most important when it comes to web browsing. The number of times that you will switch between URL’s is endless. Due to this, the time it takes for URL’s to load becomes extremely important. For a trip to YouTube, it will take you to six seconds to fully load it using Google Chrome. This is, of course, considering that your computer is free of cache and any other useless files. However, when you go to the same domain on Firefox, it will take you a full eight seconds. Both of these times are fast, but an extra two seconds for each URL can end up being a long time.
