A recent video has gone viral on YouTube, and it is one that defies your realm of understanding.
No, I didn’t just insult you, and this YouTube video is just crazy. In this video, a man opens up an egg inside of another one! This is not the only video that has shown this, but this one became viral very quickly. Although it does not happen very often, scientists have explained that a chicken can lay an egg inside of another one. It is a very complicated process, and we are going to try and dumb it down with these two facts.
FACT 1
Firstly, we are going to try and sum up what happens based on what scientists explain. Basically, the first egg will be making its way down the reproductive tract. It will start off in the ovary, and then it will eventually develop the whites for it. After this is done, it will stay in the uterus to form its shell. This is the normal process of a chicken making an egg, but this phenomenon happens when that egg gets pushed. What happens is it will be pushed back by the second one, and then it will be embedded inside of it. Again, this is not an everyday occurrence but it can happen.
FACT 2
In the video uploaded on YouTube, it was seen that the embedded egg was really small. Well, Michael Hulet, a Penn State University Associate Professor of Poultry Science, explained why this happens. He mentions how hens ovulate daily in order of size, and that smaller ova are forming at the same time. Hulet then points out how these smaller ova will travel down the track and form the smaller egg inside. So, if the next time you crack open an egg and see another one inside of it, just know that it is not a magic trick.
