Apple has now officially begun to offer trade-in credits for any damaged iPhones. This should make iPhone users around the globe very happy, and it should also pay dividends to Apple. Now, obviously the trade-in value will depend on how damaged the iPhone is, but it is better than nothing. Here are three possible reasons on why the company decided to do this.
REASON 1: NEWER MODELS
It is not as if Apple is a struggling company, but the newer models of the iPhone they sell the better. With the company giving their customers the opportunity to trade-in their damaged iPhone, it will encourage them to buy a new one. Before this, many people would probably just deal with their damaged phone because they didn’t want to buy a new one. Also, in several countries brand, new iPhones are simply too expensive for their citizens.
REASON 2: PROJECT ARA
For those of you who don’t know what Project Ara is, it is Google’s attempt to bring the world a fully customizable smartphone. Teaming up with Motorola, Google is going to allow their customers to make their own smartphone. All they are going to supply is a basic gray base, and all of the parts can be customized. It is a good thing for Apple to do trade-ins for their iPhone because whenever Project Ara happens, they could be in trouble.
REASON 3: MAKE THE CUSTOMERS HAPPY
This last reason is quite simple, and it is because they want to keep their customers happy. Companies are only as good as their customers, and there is no doubt that Apple is aware of this. Even though customers will not get a full refund on their smartphones, they will still get some credit. If nothing else, this recent idea proves that the company cares about its customers. Even if they don’t increase their revenue, this should be considered a success.
