Chalk up one more that believes that the zombie apocalypse is upon us! OK, this is a bit of a stretch, but with the release of their newest set of tools, Amazon is certainly having fun with it. These set of tools, known as Lumberyard, are one of the reasons that prove that they are on top of PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
FIRST REASON AMAZON IS ON TOP OF PC, XBOX ONE, AND PS4
First off, it should be noted that the Lumberyard is a free 3D game engine that anybody can use to create high-quality games. This does include game developers as well, and Amazon also noted that if the zombie apocalypse were to happen, all rules for this service would be terminated. So, in other words, if people begin to have an urge to consume your flesh then all bets are off.
SECOND REASON AMAZON IS ON TOP OF PC, XBOX ONE, AND PS4
As mentioned earlier, this is a free service that is offered by Amazon. Even with the addition of these new tools, they are not going to charge game developers any subscription fee if they use Lumberyard to create games on the PC, PS4, or Xbox One. However, what the company will do is monetize the engine through its Web Services.
THIRD REASON AMAZON IS ON TOP OF PC, XBOX ONE, AND PS4
Even though it was mentioned that game developers will not receive a subscription fee for using this engine, they will still end up paying a fee. Amazon has decided to make them pay a fee for every daily active user that uses the engine. Also, they will charge their normal costs for using their cloud computing service. I wonder if people are now hoping for the zombie apocalypse because I know I am!
